Yeast Infection Relief

Infections can be very uncomfortable, and oftentimes they cause pain in the body. But what can be more uncomfortable than an infection on your private parts? It’s humiliating and degrading to admit that you have an itch in your crotch.

One of the most common problems of women regarding infections is the yeast infection, which is caused by the fungus Candida albicans. The fungus is naturally present in and on the human body, regardless of the gender. However, women have higher tendency to get an infection from it because of the natural condition of the vagina and female genitalia, which is warm, damp, and slightly exposed to the outer environment. Because this is a very suitable environment for yeast growth and multiplication, there is a great possibility of yeast growth in that area.

Some of the causes of yeast infection include taking antibiotics for too long. Not only the bacteria of the infection being treated are eliminated, the natural bacteria of the human body are killed as well. Bacteria on the body serve as balancing agents to maintain the natural health of the human body. They are particularly responsible for inhibiting the growth of substances such as yeast and other fungi and infectious parasites.

When the antibiotics eliminate the good bacteria of the body, yeast can multiply faster and easier and invade the tissues of the areas where there is good breeding environment like the vagina. Once the yeast has successfully invaded the skin of the genitals, it causes irritation, swelling, itching, pain, reddening, and extreme discomfort.

A woman would never want to have to endure such painful vaginal ailment, but there are instances when it cannot be avoided. That is why many women seek for yeast infection relief, no matter what form it is. Some of these can be in the form of medical treatments, some home remedies and natural products, and others just simple lifestyle alterations to promote the elimination of the fungi.

Anti-fungal creams are the easiest over-the-counter treatments that can be used for yeast infection. Some of them are clotrimazole, miconazole, terconazole, and butoconazole. These are topical treatments applied directly on the affected area. There are also oral forms of clotrimazole, miconazole, terconazole, and another oral treatment is nystatin. Specifically for yeast infection, fluconazole is the prescribed oral medication. However, some doctors prefer suppositories and topical treatments rather than oral ones.

There are also many home remedies and natural treatments used for the relief of yeast infection. Yogurt is one excellent natural source of good bacteria, and applying it in and on the vagina as well as eating some can be helpful in bringing back the natural bacteria of the body and fight off the infection. Garlic is also one of the greatest enemies of yeast, and inserting a clove of garlic in the vagina may be painful but it will definitely do the trick. There are also commercial garlic inserts that can be bought in drugstores, but you have to make sure that it’s safe and natural. Eating garlic could also help, but if you don’t like spicy foods, the other method might work better.

Apple cider vinegar is a natural remedy for a number of medical problems, and one of these is yeast infection. Washing the genitals with apple cider vinegar diluted in water is an effective fungi killer. Do not use pure apple cider vinegar because this might cause a burning sensation in the genitals. Also, do not use white vinegar because this can only increase the amount of yeast instead of kill it.

If you have any symptoms of yeast infection, better consult your gynecologist and ask for advice regarding the best cures for the ailment.
