What is a Good Blood Pressure Number?

Blood is one of the most important components of the human body. It keeps the entire body running and without blood, it’s very impossible for a person to live. But because it is a component of the human body, the blood can also acquire some problems. These blood problems do not necessarily have to affect the blood in particular, but the blood is one of the major components affected. One of the most common blood problems is high blood pressure, which is not really a problem in the blood, but in the blood flow to be specific.

High blood pressure or hypertension is a very common medical problem and it can happen to almost anyone. There is temporary hypertension which may happen in times of strenuous activity such as constant running and movement as well as extreme emotions. Anyone is prone to experiencing hypertension, but the big problem about this medical condition is when it becomes chronic or permanent.

In order to be aware about our blood pressure, we need to monitor it. We also need to be knowledgeable about what numbers we want to see when we measure our blood pressure. So there are three major questions which you should ask yourself. 1) What is a good blood pressure number? 2) Are there symptoms of hypertension present in our bodies? 3) How do we prevent the occurrence of hypertension?

A good blood pressure number is different from normal blood pressure. Good blood pressure is within but not near the borderline of normal blood pressure. The range of normal blood pressure is from 90-140 systolic and 60-90 diastolic. Systolic is the number on top of the blood pressure measurement and the diastolic is the lower number. As long as your measurement falls within 90/60 to 140/90, it is still considered as normal. However, the advisable numbers are within the 120/80 to 100/60 range. These measurements are what you can consider as good blood pressure numbers. Anything lower or higher than the normal range can be harmful, but the numbers which are lower and higher than the advisable numbers can also signify an emerging problem. For instance, if your blood pressure falls within the 130/90 measurement, this can already be very dangerous because a little more increase and you would already be diagnosed of hypertension.

The second question is the symptoms of hypertension. Sometimes, high blood pressure attacks can happen in the most obscure moments. There are also times when you don’t expect that you already have high blood pressure. In order to be more aware, you need to know what symptoms to expect in a hypertension attack. The typical symptoms include pain at the back of the head, flushing and redness, difficulty in breathing, headache, and sometimes chest pains can also occur. Dizziness and nausea may also occur. Standing up and sitting down abruptly can also cause lightheadedness.

The last question is how do we prevent the occurrence of hypertension? If you want to keep your blood flow always normal and your heart healthy enough to maintain good blood pressure, you should eat a lot of foods which are high in omega fatty acids. If you are experiencing symptoms of high blood pressure, avoid eating foods which can increase blood levels like those which are rich in iron, livers, sweetbreads, and other internal organs. If you are experiencing problems with hypotension or low blood pressure, you should do the opposite and eat more iron-rich foods.

Like any other disease, the best solution to regulate blood flow is by living healthy, maintaining a well-balanced diet, and exercising regularly. That way, you can be sure that you keep your body healthy at all times.
