It is also used as a scattering agent which allows substances to spread better. It is also used in animal food as a pellet emulsifier. In paint, it can be used as a non-corrosive agent and it also enhances color. It is also used in plastics, gasoline, and oil as spreading, emulsifying, and lubricating agent.

Why is lecithin recognized as a health-beneficial substance? The Food and Drug Administration has labeled lecithin as safe and free from health risks. It is generally accepted as an ingredient in all edible and ingestible substances. However, there are some issues about lecithin as being more than just an emulsifier. Some people say that lecithin has some health benefits in the body, and this particularly comes from soy-based lecithin.

The answer to this question would be very objective. It’s up to an individual if he wants to take an unproven health supplement for his health or not. But lecithin has no known harmful effects to the human body so there is really no harm in taking it as a supplement. If you do choose to take it as a supplement for your high cholesterol levels or for your heart problems, then it’s your personal choice. Like many other dietary supplements, lecithin may create placebo effects that in the end turn out to be very positive and helpful for the health.
