How to Make Homemade Foot Care Products

Foot CareFoot care is actually really important – and it’s an area that we tend to neglect. Instead of spending lots of money on expensive foot care products and a foot spa, try making your own. Using a tub filled with warm water and pebbles also does a good job of pampering your feet.

Make a few of these foot care products at home to pamper your tootsies, or you could give them away as gifts. They’re really easy too, so don’t worry about it being too difficult for you. Get creative!

Citrus Foot Soak

This foot soak is brilliant for waking up your feet. With a hit of citrus oil, you’ll feel clean, soft and exfoliated. This recipe makes a dry batch, and all you need to do is mix 2 tbsp. of the mixture with 1 gallon of water before using it to soak your feet in.

You’ll Need:

  • ¼ cup baking powder
  • ¼ cup Epsom salts
  • 6 drops lemon oil
  • 6 drops orange oil

Simply mix together the salt and powder and drop in the oils. Mix with a fork until everything is fully combined, and if you want to accent the citrus theme, try a few drops of yellow coloring. Place the mixture into an airtight container or jar and if giving it away as a gift, mark the instructions onto the label ‘2 tbsp. of dry mixture to one gallon of water’.

Rose Foot Balm

Use this mixture on any areas of your feet that may be dry, cracked, splitting or painful. It’s very nourishing and the rose scent is lovely and calming.

You’ll Need:

  • 2 tbsp. jojoba oil
  • 1 tbsp. beeswax
  • 20 drops rose oil
  • ½ tsp. aloe vera gel
  • ½ tsp. vitamin E oil

Put the beeswax and jojoba oil into a bowl suspended over a pan of hot simmering water. Once the wax and oil have melted and mixed together, remove it from the heat and add the rose oil, aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil. Mix well and once combined, pour it into a small jar and allow it to set.

Energizing Foot Scrub

This foot scrub is lovely and refreshing and the scents in it will really wake up your feet. Try using this foot scrub and then follow it up by using the foot balm for really pampered feet.

You’ll Need:

  • ½ cup sea salt
  • ½ cup baking powder
  • 6 drops peppermint oil
  • 3 drops rosemary oil
  • 3 drops eucalyptus oil
  • 1 tbsp. sunflower oil

Mix the sea salt, baking powder and fragrance oils together until everything is thoroughly mixed. Once mixed together, place the scrub into an airtight jar or container. When you’re ready to use the scrub, mix in the tbsp. of sunflower oil. This batch makes enough for one treatment. If you want to give it as a gift, write down the instructions that they should mix in a tbsp. of sunflower oil before use.

Odor Corrector

This mixture is a really easy way to get rid of any nasty foot odors. This mixture makes enough for around one treatment, but you can make more in advance and keep it in airtight jars.

You’ll Need:

  • ½ cup grated ginger
  • ½ cup corn starch

Mix the two together until you have a paste. Rub the paste into your feet when you’re ready to use it and then rinse it off with warm water. Follow this up with a scrub and a moisturizing treatment or a foot balm to keep your feet in perfect condition.

Remember with all of these products that you can use scented oils to your liking. If you don’t like the smell of any particular oil, just swap it for one that you do like.
