Gastritis Diet

A gastritis diet is not too different from acid reflux diets. For instance, an individual should still avoid acidic foods because it can aggravate the indigestion and heartburn. However, they are not completely prohibited. A limit should be set if you want to eat acidic foods. Milk and dairy products should be taken less than three servings a day. Other acidic foods like tomatoes, tomato-based foods, pasta, bread, caffeine, carbonated drinks, and other should also be eaten in moderation. It would be better not to eat more than one acidic food the entire day to completely control acid production.

Alcohol and spicy foods are unadvisable to take if diagnosed with gastritis, as well as gassy foods such as broccoli, cabbage, onions, milk, cooked dried beans, peas, carbonated drinks, and others. Water is also an important drink that you should frequently take throughout the day to make you feel better, as water can neutralize acids in the stomach.

Some of the most beneficial foods to take when you have gastritis are fruits, vegetables, nuts, and high-fibrous foods and grains. Carrots and spinach are some vegetables good for gastritis. Juicing a carrot and adding spinach juice or tea can be helpful in relieving gas problems.

Fruits like apples, pears, grapes, grapefruits, oranges, pineapples, peaches, melons, bananas, and other fibrous and alkaline fruits should be eaten often with their skins peeled. Fruit juices are also good to have, but their fibers are better ingested because they aid in proper digestion. Coconut meat and juice are good for gastric problems, as well as green leafy vegetables. Eat all these in fair amounts and have them daily. Do not overeat as this is a cause for indigestion and gas problems. Moderate amounts every once in a while would be preferable to take rather than few large meals.
